Effective Behavioral Interview Techniques for Managers

Behavioral interviewing method is a structured interview that enables fair and non-biased evaluation of applicants because they are asked the same questions and evaluated using the same criteria. Behavioral interviewing elicits candidates past experiences of successful application/demonstration of certain behaviors, knowledge, skills and abilities in specific situations or tasks. In this training program, participants are guided to develop Behavioral Interview questions using tools such as the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Results) and The Job Competency-Based Skills, Knowledge and Attitude Description. Participants will also develop rating scales with meaningful variance such as the Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scale (BARS) to score each interviewees quality point on a set of critical behaviors deemed necessary to perform the job/task successfully.
