Data Centre Back-up Batteries: Options and Lifecycle Costs

This workshop will discuss topics related to the lead-acid battery. In the data centre, the lead-acid battery is the first option when it comes to Interruptible Power Supply (UPS) energy storage. More than 10 million installed UPSs rely on either Modular Battery Cartridge (MBC) and Flooded, Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) systems. As the programme progresses, learners will explore the advantages and disadvantages of these three technologies used for battery manufacturing. Furthermore, participants will analyse the lifecycle cost of these varied UPS battery technologies.
